We are happy to invite all of you to an Not-an-Atlas event with Brett Bloom & Bonnie Fortune (in cooperation with Le Monde Diplomatique – Deutsche Ausgabe) this Tuesday, July 2nd, at the 142 Tage für 99 Jahre! Dauergartenfestival of the Prinzessinnengarten (Prinzenstraße 35-38, 10969 Berlin).
In their workshop about Deep Mapping, Brett Bloom and Bonnie Fortune will address Counter-Cartographies as a way to be conscious of a place in such a manner as to hold multiple layers of understanding of the present moment in a non-reductive and robust manner. This is in contradistinction to the ways we normally speed through and consume the landscapes and places of our petroleum-driven, industrialized lives, and the related sense of self this produces. https://notanatlas.org/maps/
Kollektiv orangotango will exhibit a selection of Counter-Cartographies from the book “This Is Not an Atlas” and present the documentary “This Is Not an Atlas – This Is a Documentary on Counter-Cartographies”. While the exhibition displays a selection of counter-mapping projects from all over the world, the documentary shows how maps influence our understanding of the world, are a useful tool to deconstruct it, can be applied to confront social injustices or create new commons. https://notanatlas.org/
