From April 5 to 9 we participated in Quito and Sucumbíos, Ecuador, at the “Encounter of Critical and Autonomous Geographies of Latin America”, which brought together 20 counter-cartographies collectives and counter-cartographers from 10 countries. It was really inspiring to meet so many different activists, geographers and artists from all over Latin America. Some of them were even Not-an-Atlas authors which we met for the first time like Geoide en Revolucion, Geocommunes and Liz from Counter-Cartographies Collective others will hopefully publish their work on notanatlas.org and in future Not-an-Atlas editions. We are looking forward to continue this dialogue!

A result of the meeting was a statement which was read at the closing plenary of the XVIII EGAL (Encounter of Latin American Geographers), held in Quito. Here you can find the statement in spanish and english: https://geografiacriticaecuador.org/2019/04/12/pronunciamiento-del-encuentro-de-geografias-criticas-y-autonomas/.
